The Great Outback Tour 2008 - Day 4

We rose early due to the heat and had a quick breakfast. The drover wanted to go off and get the other horses before it got to hot, so Roger offered to go with him on the quad to help bring them back. By 11 am we were back on the horses for another lesson on our horses. Wayne put me on old Rebel first while he organised Roger with Charlie, however Rebel decided he wanted to go back to the bush and started to walk off but I panicked a bit because he would not stop when I pulled on his reins or turned him a certain way - he lived up to his name and pushed past my commands until Roger came to my rescue. This time we went on a longer ride through the bush but Rebel kept not obeying and Wayne had to lead me for a while.
After our ride we loaded the horses up to move them back down the other side of Walgett to where we had to pick the cattle up for the drove. During the day was very hot and we drank maybe 5 litres of water throughout the day as we were moving horses on and off the truck and setting up a new camp for a few days. The day went quiet quickly and before we knew it , it was time to collect more wood for the fire for dinner and enough to keep the fire going into the night for light. As the darkness crept upon us and Roger and I snuggled down into out swags - I have to admit it was beautiful - The stars were out in abundance, as were the bugs, but it was lovely just to watch the shooting stars and satellites go by and listen to the horses eating grass and making horse noises.
