TAFE Students Letterheads

Today I had a busy day at TAFE with my student now settling down into their third week of learning Photoshop. My Friday class I teach Design to them and they are now learning Typography and how to create not just bodycopy for their websites with text but to create designs and concepts for logos.
today's exercise was to use the 26 letters of the alphabet and 26 different fonts to make a head and shoulders portrait of a person. Hope you enjoy what they came up with - my whole 2 x classes were very creative and made me very proud considering they have only begun to use Photoshop. Well done Digital Media Class D1 and D2!

Year 7 Camp for Dillon

It seems like my kids are always on camps! Dillon has just come home from a 4 day camp to Lane Cove National Park, which is in Sydney's north. The camp was called "getting to know each other", so they had lots of activities that involved team work. This year they have included row of some form, unfortunately for their rowing master he did not have an appropriate place to launch the row boats so the kids tried to row with canoes - just not the same.
The good news is that Mr Hughes is making Dillon Junior Rowing Captain - which means she is responsible in recruitment of years 6-7. She is very excited about this.
This week Sydney has been bombarded with severe thunderstorms and flash flooding, so apart from a slight fall on the first day and getting in trouble by the teachers for another girls mistake, Dillon came home with no scars from the camp and was happy MLC gave them Friday off to rest after camp. This was great as Dillon and Trudi's eldest daughter have regattas all weekend at Penrith.

Dilly's 12th Birthday Party

Well Sydney put on a great show for Dillon's 12th Birthday Party. Lots of sun and about 30 degrees. Like in previous years she had a pool party with 20 of her close friends but this year was a bit different as two of those friends were boys. At first the girls were a bit shy to go into the pool as Ben and Mark were splashing around as boys do but after Trudi's eldest daughter and Erin broke the ice with water bombs they all had fun together.
After a few hours of pool fun lunch was delivered, of course every tweens dream "PIZZA" it was gobbled up in a few minutes and Darren got eat only a few pieces.
Dillon did not want a cake this year so we all say Happy Birthday to Dillon and her one candle cup cake!
It was a great day and Dillon and her friends had a awesome time and as parents we are thank full that both Dillon and Trudi's eldest daughter have such wonderful, caring and so well behaved friends. They are all a credit to their parents, their school and to themselves.
More Pictures tomorrow!!

Sister Time

This weekend my sister, Peita, came down form Brisbane - Queensland to spend the weekend catching up with her Sydney friends.
Saturday I picked Peita up from Cabarita Wharf with her work friend Roz and they spent the afternoon talking and eating cheese platters being accompanied by Brown Brothers wine. A nice way to spend Saturday afternoon.
Juanita joined in the fun as well after Dillon was spoilt by Juanita making her birthday party cup cakes and a special batch of her famous Choc Chop Cookies. Juanita also entertained us by reading our Tarot Cards which was enjoyed along with the wine. Later followed by a BBQ.
It was lovely to catch up and find out how life is in Brisbane and to see photos of my nieces - which are all growing so fast. Hannah sent me some photos of her artwork. She is doing a real good job with her freehand drawings of her favourite characters. hopefully she will follow her dream and become an artist and make her Aunty Trudi proud. She also sent me a photo of her sick dog - Bella.
Silly me forgot to get a photo of Peita and I together but I will find one and add it later (old one).

20th Wedding Anniversary Dinner Party

Here are some fun pics of everyone who could make it to our 20th anniversary party last week.
We had such a entertaining time together with our friends and it was a great night with lovely Thai food, French champagne and every ones favorite towards the end of the night Brown brothers port.
The evening started of at home where our entire guest arrived for pre dinner drinks of beer for the boys and Moet for the girls. AS every one mingled and chatted, Trudi served delicious Mediterranean canapés with olives and cheeses.
AS the time for our reservation at the restaurant, Chili Jam in Concord approached we all left the house and as a parade made our way down our street and then to the main road where the restaurant is located. Chili Jam is one of the most popular restaurants in Concord and there was a line of maybe ten people waiting to go in so it was lucky we had this booked for a while and I must say I did feel like a celebrity Rock Star bypassing the entire queue and letting 30 of my friends do it too!
The food and the atmosphere were really fantastic and many of our friends commented on what a great dinner it was.
After the restaurant we made our way back to the house with the return journey a little side to side because of the great wine we had at dinner. Some people settled outside and some inside with many of the girls who were at the wedding 20 years ago reminiscing through our wedding video that Trudi put on.
For those who were driving and wanted an after dinner coffee we had espresso and ice cream called Affogato which is divine and for the diehards white and black port which was an awesome night cap. The last of the friends left about 2.30am and I must say we are blessed with some of the best friends people could have and Thank you to everyone for coming and for your lovely thoughts and gifts.
I did make it at up at 5.30am to take the girls to rowing but fell asleep in the car park for two hours while they rowed.
