MLC Regatta - Dilley's Day
During the rowing season each year Dillon and Taylor's school MLC hosts a rowing regatta fortunately two streets away in Bayview Park Concord. Trudi and I as well as many other parents who are all wonderful supporters of the schools rowing program had to arrive early (like 4.45 a.m.) to help erect all the tents, get the BBQ and coffee machines on line for the hundreds of parents, rowers and friends who would be attending the event. It was really fun to be out in the rain at 5 in the morning erecting tents and I now know what it would be like to work for the SES.
I just want to say what a great day it was at the MLC Regatta, the coaches, teachers and rowing athletes should be very happy and proud of their achievements and I would like to make special mention to all the great parents who selflessly volunteer their time and efforts. A special mention to Rodney at Sunshades for donating 100 pairs of sunglasses and to Juanita for her endless help baking the most "oarsome cookies" to help raise money and for her help on the stand.
Dillon has progressed so well this season, she started in rowing program in year 6, a year earlier than she should have and now she is coxing a crew with more experience and today they won their race on home soil, Trudi and I were so proud to see Dillon achieving a great result. Her Crew of Erin, Justine, Sophie and Maddie are all fantastic rowers and great kids and it was fun to see their happiness collecting their medals. Thanks to Scotty their coach for their little "pink Hippo" incentive - it really lifted the crew.
Taylor's crew's race was cancelled because of strong head winds but just for some fun later raced Ascham.
