MLC Newsletter
Dillon's crew made the MLC Newsletter with her crew's great win last weekend. Her Rowing Master had this to say plus more about what's been happening.
The MLC rowers and supporters have had a very busy time of it lately. Over the holiday period, rowers, coaches and supporters were actively preparing for the competition season by attending Summer Training Camps. All that work has paid off with some wonderful results at the MLC Regatta held last weekend even under the very daunting dark clouds. ...More>>

ROWING REPORT ~ What’s been going on….
Grafton Trip
In the last week of Term 4 MLC Rowing headed north for five days to row on the majestic Clarence River in Grafton. During our time there girls participated in the Head of the Clarence Regatta – an all schools carnival, and the Grafton Rowing Club Regatta for both schools and clubs.
Some notable results included 3rd placings by Kate McKay, Erin Spencer, Sophie Jerapetritis in the Single Sculls, Justine Baloh and Katherine Thompson in the Double Sculls, and Erin Spencer, Justine Baloh, Sophie Jerapetritis, Maddie Smith, Claudia Wherry in the Quad Sculls. First placings by Erin Spencer and Mareta Akari in the Double Sculls and Juliette Baloh and Rebecca Venchiarutti in the Senior Pair.
Jindabyne Rowing Camp
During January all athletes headed to Jindabyne for an intensive block of training. Whilst junior girls received perfect weather, smooth waters and blue skies, our senior rowers rugged up for some cold mornings and wet days. By the end of camp all athletes were sad to return home but happy in the knowledge that they had achieved more than they thought possible.
Pymble Ladies College Regatta
Our first regatta of the term was held Sunday, 3 February at Iron Cove with most wishing we had brought an ark rather than rowing boats. In treacherous conditions athletes ventured onto the water for the first hit-out of term.
Best performances of the day were put in by Justine Baloh and Maddie Smith in the Year 9 Double Scull and the Senior Four of Trudi's eldest daughter, Daisy Garling, Chanel Curko, Rebecca Venchiarutti, Juliette Baloh, who both finished 2nd. Erin Spencer picked up another medal in the Year 9 Single Sculls in which Kate McKay crossed for 3rd.
All rowers returned home suitably pruned.
MLC Regatta
Last week MLC Rowers were all praying in the hope that the rain would hold off for MLC’s 12th Annual Regatta, and our prayers were answered. The day went ahead under grey but rainless skies with all going well until the wind blew up and cancelled the final six races.
Despite the cancellation of the last few races, rowing’s day-of-days was a huge success with all MLC Rowing parents, athletes, former students and parents working together like a Swiss watch. MLC Rowing would like to thank all those who helped with the Regatta and those who came to support. You were all part of our most successful day of racing in many, many years with nearly every girl placing.

Like last year MLC Rowing finished the regatta in 5th place overall, which is phenomenal considering the size of our program. Well done to all athletes.
