Day 5 - Cradle Mountain TASMANIA

As we left Highlander Cottages for the last time, Roger wanted to see how Cradle Mountain looked with the latest dump of snow. We checked with The Rangers and our car was suitable to pass, as the roads were closed to normal cars unless they had chains for their tyres. Roger and I made it to the river for some wonderful shots of The National Park in fresh snow but as we left the first stopping station, Roger moved over to let The Ranger pass and our car went off the ready made car tracks and we ended in a ditch. We tooted our horn but The Ranger could not here us and there was no-one else around, so Roger did the only thing he could think of to get us out - THE SURVIVAL KNIFE.
Roger was busy digging our tyres out of the ditch so the tyres could find something not slippery to hold onto when The Ranger came back and found us - I think Roger was both relieved and disappointed - relieved cause we were saved and not left to die in the snow and disappointed he could not give his SURVIVAL KNIFE a good work out plus of course the photo opportunities missed.
Once Roger and I were saved by Ranger Shane he escorted us to Dove Lake for our very quick photos as a huge snow fall was about to start again and we could have been stuck again. Thanks to RANGER SHANE we got back from Dove Lake, a 7 km and about 1/2 hour drive, safe and sound. Of course I was a bit shaky as the roads were really slippery and hilly but to those that know me - I did it drug free and only minor panic attack. LOL
