Arriving Thursday in Grafton

Well we finally arrived in Grafton about 4 p.m. and lucky we saw Mr Hughes (rowing master) just as we were coming into Grafton, so we followed him to the rowing shed. He planned for the girls to have a rowing training session before continuing onto the Nymboida Canoe Centre (Club Canoe), which is 35km out of town, but one of the buses did not show so he called it off and we all went back to camp to find the other bus there.
Once the kids got settled and showered a storm came over during dinner which made everything hot and steamy. We were fortunate that staying at our camp was Allan Burnett from Reptile Awareness, a professional snake handler. He was kind enough to show us Blue Tongue Lizards, Shingle Back Lizards and some of the most deadliest snakes in the world. Inland Taipan (big golden one on a stick - pictured) is ranked No.1 most deadliest snake in the world and lives in Queensland, Australia. One bite can kill a horse in 8 minutes. He also showed us Death adder ranked no.10 in the world (little brown snake pictured) another Australian snake, it can give a single bite of venom enough to kill 18 people.
As you can see the girls kept very still and made no sudden movements just incase a snake got away from the handler.
