6 Degrees of Seperation in Portofino

We travelled by train today from Genoa to Portofino. On the way we stopped at a lovely town called Camogli. It is situated on the Mediterranean Sea and we spent the first part of the day on the beach swimming and having fun. It is not like our beaches back home with soft sand but hard rocks, very uncomfortable. We had lunch in a resturant by the marina sitting under grapevines in the shade and drinking Vino Rossi - very nice.
In the afternoon we took another train to Portofino, a place for the rich and famous. The small township nestled on the waterfront has boutiques of all the top fashion labels like Versace and D&G. Overlooking the town is a brightly yellow coloured church and Trudi and I made the trek up the hillside to take a look and get a picture.
Up there the view of the village was amazing.
It was here that we had one of those funny coincidence moments that seem so random and permeate the idea that we are all separated by 6 degrees.
We got talking with another Aussie couple, Jason and Louise Candello, it is great to meet another Aussie’s when travelling and this couple were really nice. We were just chatting about random stuff when they mentioned they were from Perth and because I am physic I asked Jason if he knows Myles Conti, we have been friends with Myles for a few years since he started going out with our friend Michelle and we photographed their wedding earlier this year. Well you should have seen his face and ours when he said, “well actually, I do”. We were all just stunned and gob smacked. We did the knowledge test to confirm and found out that Jason was friends with Myles at school had gone to his house for dinners and knew his sisters and brother Karl. It truly is a small small world.
