Viareggio and Pisa
We picked up a hire car in Genoa and drove south to a lovely beach area called Viareggio it is on the Italian Riviera and is famous for it’s art deco architecture.
Dillon and I swam in the Mediterranean Sea, having fun letting the waves crash into us. Then we had a sun bake for a few hours relaxing from the car trip. It took a little bit of time to get used driving on the other side of the road. Trudi screamed a few times when I got to close to the guardrail on the freeway. But I had everything under control. Although I did stall the car driving off from the rental office in third gear instead of first and thank God for GPS.
At the beach was a swimming pool and we could use it as part of our entrance fee to the beach, as long as we wore these strange swimming caps, I kept thinking this was not going to stop me or Dillon from peeing in their pool.
After the beach we travelled to Pisa to see the leaning tower, what an awesome sight.
We had a meal there but it was not that great. There were heaps of market stalls and guys from Kenya wanting to sell stuff. They just keep hassling and there just seems to be a different guy peddling the same stuff every 50 metres. Sunglasses, bags, watches, bangles, Trudi turned around and gave one an almighty gob full but luckily the car was just around the corner so we could make our escape to Florence.
